How to Get to Miyajima from Hiroshima
There are four main ways to travel from Hiroshima to Miyajima Island. The best option depends on your starting point, schedule, budget, and available time. Below, we explain how to get to Miyajima from Hiroshima using four transportation options and help you find the best route for your trip.

❶ JR Train + JR Ferry
This is usually the easiest option for travelers staying near Hiroshima Station or arriving by Shinkansen.
Take the JR Sanyo Line, usually from Platform 1, and get off at Miyajimaguchi Station. The train may be displayed as bound for Iwakuni, Ono-ura, or another station beyond Miyajimaguchi, so check that it stops at Miyajimaguchi. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. From there, walk approximately five minutes to the ferry terminal and take a 10-minute ferry ride to Miyajima.

❷ Streetcar + Ferry
It takes longer than the High-Speed Boat, but it is a good choice if you prefer to keep transportation costs lower.
Take Streetcar No. 2 bound for Miyajima-guchi from one of the stops along Aioi-dori Avenue. Get off at Miyajima-guchi, the final stop. The ferry terminal is right in front of the station.
The streetcar ride takes approximately 60–70 minutes, followed by a 10-minute ferry ride.

This is our recommended option for traveling directly between Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima. The pier is located inside Peace Memorial Park, only a one- or two-minute walk from the Atomic Bomb Dome.
The boat travels along the river before entering the Seto Inland Sea. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the islands and Hiroshima’s oyster rafts. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes.
